Author’s Note: This is a repost from our July Blog.

It’s Matcha month here at Loose Leaf Club! In addition to providing one of the finest selections of small family farm matcha tea in our loose leaf tea box, we are excited to share some of our favorite matcha recipes. Keep reading if you are a fan of smoothies, ice cream, cookies and cupcakes.

Not sure about you, but my mouth is already watering!

First, maybe you are one of the occasional tea sippers who has heard of the delicious green powder that is matcha but you don’t really know much about it.

What is Matcha?

This tea is a special powder tea with a bright green color. Many of you may have tried matcha, but haven’t experienced the top-notch selection that we are excited to introduce that is produced in small batches from just one garden! The green tea leaves are shaded from the sun for the final few weeks of their growth, increasing their chlorophyll content and creating a gorgeous green color. The leaves are carefully ground with stone grinding wheels to produce a fine powder that can be used to brew an antioxidant rich frothy green tea or as an ingredient in smoothies or other delicious recipes! You consume the entire leaf, which makes Matcha much more potent than traditional green tea. In fact, research has shown matcha contains as many as 7 times the antioxidants compared dark chocolate! Take that, Snickers Bar!

What can you make with Matcha?

If you haven’t made recipes with Matcha before, a good one to start with is green tea ice cream. It is a perfect introduction to the flavor and color highlighting the pure matcha ingredient.

Green Tea Ice Cream

Thanks to here for this refreshing bit of summer taste!

Matcha Cream Cheese Frosting

The good news is these cupcakes with matcha cream cheese frosting are delicious, naturally. The bad news? They’re so cute, you’re going to feel sad eating them. Get the recipe from Pass the Sushi.

Chocolate Chip Matcha Pound Cake

Pound cake can be boring. Yes, even with chocolate added. Dress it up by adding some fun, green matcha and it can be the cake of your dreams! Check out how easy it is to make this dessert here: Rasa Malaysia.

Matcha Mochi Yogurt Pops

Matcha and mochi are a match made in heaven. In these healthy treats, tart yogurt balances the grassy matcha flavor while bits of chewy, sweet mochi add some texture to each pop. See these yummy summer treats at My Name is Yeh.

Matcha Cucumber Lemonade

Remember those super sweet, sugar-packed lemonade of your youth? This healthier nutrient-packed version is about to find a spot in your regular beverage rotation. Cucumber, mint and matcha add subtle, refreshing flavors, while a hint of agave helps sweeten the mixture just enough. Get all the details on this summer sipper here: Life by DailyBurn

Matcha Green Tea Mug Cake

If you are craving an easy dessert that is not too heavy on sugar, this easy mug cake is your answer. The recipe calls for white sugar but I would suggest trying coconut sugar or agave. The cake is only slight sweet, but you can adjust the amount of sugar without changing the flavor of the cake.

Wishing you many moments of summer fun! We would love to see your posts on what you made with your matcha shipment for July!

Happy sipping,
